Summary
The
Situation
A major
municipality
faced
the
problem
of elevated
levels
of ammonia
in its
discharge
water.
In order
to meet
regulatory
limits
the
facility
had
to divert
its
wastewater
to a
neighboring
municipality
at a
very
large
expense.
The
Solution
United-Tech,
Inc.,
in conjunction
with
the
facility,
conducted
an in-plant,
full
scale
feasibility
study
to determine
the
effects
of BZT®
Aquaculture
on ammonia
reduction
when
applying
BZT®
Aquaculture
in their
trickling
filters
only.
The
Results
The
project
data
clearly
demonstrated
the
ability
of BZT®
Aquaculture
to reduce
the
ammonia
levels
when
the
trickling
filters
were
treated.
Due
to United-Tech's
treatment
program
the
facility
was
able
to treat
a larger
volume
of water
and
keep
the
discharge
water
within
regulatory
permit
levels.
The
United-Tech
treatment
program
will
save
the
facility
hundreds
of thousands
of dollars
by the
facilities
ability
to treat
more
wastewater
on-site
versus
the
costs
of diverting
the
wastewater
to another
facility.
United-Tech,
Inc.
is currently
working
with
the
wastewater
authority
to begin
a treatment
program
for
the
entire
system.
