BZT® Aqua 4-U is a bacteria and enzyme formula that is safe for plants, animals and humans. It is effective in both fresh and salt-water environments and has a minimum two-year shelf life. BZT® Aqua 4-U detoxifies Nitrates and Nitrites and oxidizes ammonia. It improves water clarity and quality, which minimizes fish stress. It removes bottom slime and sludge, breaking down organic debris such as fish fecal matter, leaves, and bird droppings. BZT® Aqua 4-U eliminates foaming and floating scum, and eliminates odors.

No additional products are needed to effectively treat your pond or fountain with BZT® Aqua 4-U, and you don't need to add an "activator" product before it will work. Just mix with water - and treat! Competitor Brand A

Competitor Brand A, found on retail store shelves, is a bacteria-only formula (no enzymes). It claims to be safe for plants, animals and humans, but a severe skin irritant warning is printed on the label. It has an unknown shelf life, which means you have no way of knowing if you are putting a viable product in your pond. Brand A does not remove bottom slime or sludge, nor does it eliminate foaming and floating scum, which means that any fish you have are still enduring the same stresses as before you started the treatment. Users of Brand A will still have to clean the sludge from the bottom of the pond or fountain and skim off the floating scum to effectively clean the pond and prevent the odors from returning!

Technical support of Competitor Brand A? Forget it. The manufacturer provides a toll-free number for more information right on their label, but when we called the company they were leery to provide information, and the most we could get from them was store locations and distributors where we could purchase the product. They could not answer any technical questions about the product itself, and referred us to read the instructions on the label. When looking at the label, the one phrase that stood out was, "Simply natural, Simply beautiful" …we think… simply a mystery.

In comparing the cost and the amount of water Competitor Brand A will treat, we were appalled. 3.5-ounces [99.23g] of the competitor's product would only treat 1,250 gallons [4.73m³] of water. Competitor Brand B

Competitor Brand B is also a bacteria-only formula. Like Brand A, it claims to be safe for animals and humans (no mention of plants), but it also has severe skin irritant warnings printed on the label. It is not recommended for use in salt-water environments, and it only has a one-year shelf life.

One of the most distressing facts about Brand B is that three additional products are needed just to achieve the little results of temporarily improving the water clarity. Note that each of these additional products needs to be purchased separately, adding to the total cost of the product. One of these additives is an "activator" product, which must be added just before applying to make the bacteria work! Without adding this activator product, you are putting inactive bacteria into your pond that will do absolutely nothing. This product, when used with the activator, will only detoxify nitrites and nitrates, oxidize ammonia, and temporarily improve water clarity. It will not reduce any sludge, floating scum, or algae build-up in your pond or fountain, nor will it eliminate any odors.

There is no telephone number provided on the label for technical assistance, and the company has no direct website to obtain more information.

For cost comparison, Competitor Brand B was worse than Brand A. 3.5 ounces [99.23g] only treats 210 gallons [796L] of water. Competitor Brand C

Competitor Brand C is a bacteria-only formula like the other competitor products, but it has an even shorter shelf life - 6 months. The catch to this, however, is that an activator product is needed to make it work, and once you've added the activator to the liquid formula, the shelf life drops down to 72 hours (you have to add the entire pack of activator to the entire bottle of liquid formula).

This product is sold strictly through distributors, and there is no technical support available. A quantity of 3.5-ounces [99.23g] treats 3,500 gallons [13.25m³] of water.
