Brazil Shrimp Farm - Semi-Intensive Culturing in Open Pond
Treatment Summary
An important shrimp producer in Brazil with Semi-Intensive farming has been using BZT® Waste Digester and BZT® Aquaculture for over one year with excellent results.
Objective:
To increase production using the infrastructure, BZT® Waste Digester and BZT® Aquaculture were applied as per UTI protocol and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP).
Normal production was approximately around 4 tons/Ha/cycle with 60% survival, ABW < 11g, and the customer was aiming for > 5.0 tons/Ha/cycle with 65% survival and AWB > 11g FCR
Results:
After 127 days of culture, production was at 5,061 kg/ha, over 1,000 kg greater than identical control pond. Average Body Weight increased to 11.8 grams and survival increased from 62% to 68%. The total shrimp sale for the BZT® pond was US $28.878 versus the control pond at US $23,227, being equivalent to 12% increase in sales. Other beneficial results when using BZT® products was clean soil free of organic residues after harvesting, making possible the ability to stock the pond immediately after the first harvest and gaining cycles per year.
