Intensive Culturing in Open Pond with P. vannamei - Mexico
Treatment Summary
Objective: To increase production in the three phases of shrimp farming using the existing infrastructure.
Normal production for this shrimp farm in the second phase is 10 tons/Ha/cycle, 60% survival, ABW 11g and the customer was aiming for > 13 tons/Ha/cycle with >70% survival and ABW > 11g. BZT® Waste Digester and BZT® Aquaculture were applied during both the Nursery and Grow Out cycles as per UTI protocol and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP).
Results:
In the Nursery cycle, an 8% net increase in production was observed when compared to Control ponds. Survival rate was 93% versus 89.5% in Control ponds.
Regarding the Grow Out cycle, a 34% net increase in production was observed when compared to Control ponds. Survival rate exceeded the target goal at 75%. With Production at 13,680 Kg/Ha, treatment with BZT® products offered the shrimp farm a Production increase of 3,481Kg/Ha over the Control ponds. BZT® also proved to give better results when the shrimp cycles occurred during the colder season in open ponds.
