Intensive P. monodon Culturing with Open Ponds - Negros, Philippines
Treatment Summary
A major shrimp producer in Negros, Oriental, Philippines has been using BZT® products for several cycles with good results. All farming is done in open mud bottom ponds with P. monodon (tiger shrimp).
Objective:
- To improve water quality by reducing the Total Organic Matter (TOM) from the pond soil.
- Control of phytoplankton growth and related problems.
- Increase production
BZT® Waste Digester and BZT® Aquaculture were applied and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) were implemented.
Results:
The farm used a reservoir to treat incoming water for safe water exchange, thus improving the water quality significantly before beginning the cycle. After five months of grow out using BZT® products, harvest yielded a production of 8,005 Kg/Ha with 81% Survival and Average Body Weight of 33.47 grams.
This farm continues to use BZT® products, and they are very happy with the results.
