P. monodon Shrimp Farm, Extensive Culturing with Open Ponds - Bohol, Philippines
Treatment Summary
A large shrimp producer in Bohol, Philippines has been using BZT® products for several cycles with very good results. All farming is done in open mud bottom ponds with P. monodon (tiger shrimp).
Objective:
- Improve water quality by reducing the Total Organic Matter (TOM) from the pond soil.
- Control of phytoplankton growth and related problems.
- Increase Production
BZT® Waste Digester and BZT® Aquaculture were applied and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) were implemented.
Results:
After six months of grow out, the water remained pristine with the help of BZT® products. The P. monodon reached 48g in size, which is excellent for export to Japan. Total production reached 8,272 Kg/Ha with a survival rate of 80.3%. This Philippine shrimp farm is now a happy, long-term customer.
