Testimonial - Abalone Production System - BZT® Bio-Aqua

My company operates eight recirculation models as part of our abalone production system. These recirculation systems utilize airlift circulation and a large submerged gravel filter bed. These systems work well but over time the gravel bed begins to clog with solids and the water circulation through the bed is impaired. Our initial cleaning procedure involved removing the animals, which are housed in forty cages and then pressure washing the drained gravel bed. Needless to say this manual cleaning took considerable labor and the module would be out of production for a day or two. I learned about BZT® Bio-Aqua at the Honolulu World Aquaculture meeting and selected it for use over competitive products because it is in a dry powder form that reduces shipping costs considerably. After consultation with United-Tech, Inc. technical department on application rate, I added the BZT® Bio-Aqua to number six module which was suffering from a clogged bed and due to be cleaned. Within ten days, the circulation of this module dramatically improved and the technician caring for the eight modules said “It is now the best one.”

After the results of this initial trial, I applied BZT® Bio-Aqua to the remaining seven modules and set up a reinoculation schedule so that the modules get treated regularly. We also apply BZT® Bio-Aqua when starting up a new system to insure a healthy bacterial community in the biofilter. My company is very satisfied with the results obtained from BZT® Bio-Aqua and the economy of shipping the product. I certainly recommend BZT® Bio-Aqua for use in marine recirculation of systems to eliminate sludge buildup and to improve performance.
