Summary
The
Situation
An
engine
and
transmission
rebuilding
company
located
in Southwestern
Indiana
had
a 250
mg/l
BOD
limit
per
day.
They
were
running
approximately
12,000
gallons
of water
and
had
approximately
900
mg/l
of incoming
BOD.
The
influent
was
composed
of metals
salts,
oils
and
greases
and
numerous
heavy
metals.
The
Solution
United-Tech
recommended
a biological
treatment
program
utilizing
OBT®
Oil
Degradation
Treatment.
The
company
started
adding
OBT
in May
2001
and
have
been
using
the
product
ever
since.
The
Results
As
of February
2003,
the
BOD
was
down
to 25
mg/l.
The
system
has
stabilized
and
is less
affected
by shock
loads.
The
oils
and
greases
were
at non-detectable
limits.
