Summary
The
Situation
United-Tech,
Inc.
conducted
a pilot
test
for
a petroleum
service
company.
Historically,
the
processed
filter
cake
solids
were
accumulated
in poly
bags
and
transported
to a
hazardous
waste
landfill.
The
purpose
of the
pilot
test
was
to remediate
the
solids
so that
they
could
be disposed
of as
non-hazardous
waste,
thus
creating
substantial
savings
to the
petroleum
service
company
and
their
clients.
The
Solution
United-Tech
recommended
treating
the
filter
cake
during
the
final
wash
cycle
with
OBT®.
In addition,
the
solids
were
treated
as they
accumulated
into
the
receiving
bin.
The
Results
TPH
levels
in the
filter
cake
material
prior
to treatment
were
in excess
of 118,000
mg/kg.
After
the
first
two
weeks
of treatment,
the
levels
had
dropped
to 815
mg/kg.
At the
end
of the
test
(three
weeks)
the
levels
had
dropped
below
100
mg/kg.
