Biological Treatment Summary

The Situation

A paper manufacturer faced the constant dredging of three settling ponds. The dredging was so prevalent that a contractor is on-site year round performing the dredging.

The Solution

United-Tech proposed a bioaugmentation program that consisted of the addition of BZT® Waste Digester. It was proposed that a seed application be performed followed by regular maintenance applications. The treatment program was designed to decrease the overall sludge volume, expanding the time frame between dredging.

The Results

Physical and quantitative data clearly shows that the sludge volume was decreased.

United-Tech's program is designed to begin the treatment of each pond immediately after dredging is performed with the ultimate goal of decreasing the on-site contractor's responsibilities. The company anticipates tremendous savings following the treatment guideline.
