Locomotive Repair Shop – Floor Cleaning

Biological Treatment Summary

A locomotive repair shop for a major railroad company had a floor cleaning project of a very nasty greasy place. This facility had been around for decades. Previous cleaning attempts did little. The place was coated ceiling to floor with grease, oil, hydraulic fluids, and soot. Underground sumps and floor drains were clogged.

Everything was treated at once with a ‘minimal labor’ approach using BZT® Waste Digester. What was done was to use the main floor sump as a receiving well. We pumped from here through a filter and then sprayed the water all over the ceiling, walls, and floor. With BZT® Waste Digester, we just turned it on and let it go for days moving from room to room, wall to wall. The surface cleaned up after a quick wipe of the treated area. They pressure washed the residue off when they were done. The resulting floor is not stain-free, pure-white virgin concrete; but the client was extremely happy with a clean floor that was oil-free and that no toxic or caustic chemicals were needed. Also the drainlines were cleaned up.
